The celebration of New Year is performed in all cities of Ecuador, mainly with the tradition of burning the old year or puppet, a fact that represents leaving behind the negative experiences of the past year and welcoming a new one, with the hope it's better than the last.

Burning the old year has ancient history and occurs in many parts of the world, and it was in the Babylonian, Greek and Roman cultures.

Ecuador is one of the few, if not the only country left in South America which burns dummies for the celebration of new year's eve. This is an example of how we do it. From Ecuador to the World.

TRADITIONS

Each new year cabals that according to the beliefs attract prosperity, love or good luck are shared; among the most popular they are:

NEW YEAR IN OTHER COUNTRIES

ISRAEL

 The Jewish New Year is called Rosh Hashanah. Date varies each year, but usually take place in September or October. That day is forbidden to work. Jews come to the synagogue to pray, and then return home for a special meal. It is customary to n touch the "shofar" (ram's horn) and eat apples smeared with honey to make the coming year is sweet.

The Thai New Year called Songkran and lasts three days, from 13 to 15 April. People were throwing buckets of water at each other with the desire to attract heavy rains for the coming year.
